In New Delhi, former President Ram Nath Kovind praised the late industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata for his humility and patriotism. Tata passed away at 86 at Breach Candy Hospital. Kovind recalled Tata’s simplicity during banquets at Rashtrapati Bhavan, noting his focus on national interest over personal gain.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also honored Tata, describing him as a “born industrialist and philanthropist” who prioritized honesty and the country’s progress. Kharge shared memories of meeting Tata, emphasizing his dedication to India’s benefit.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders attended Tata’s final rites at Worli Crematorium. Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed condolences, calling Tata a “true nationalist” and “son of the soil.” Maharashtra declared a day of mourning in Tata’s honor.

Ratan Tata, born in 1937, was the Chairman of Tata Sons and was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2008 for his contributions to industry and philanthropy.
