Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren to Join BJP on August 30
New Delhi, India – Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has announced that he will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on August 30. Soren, a leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), made this decision public amid speculations about his political future.
Responding to reporters’ questions, Soren confirmed his decision, stating, “Yes, I will join the BJP on August 30. When I came on August 18, I made my position clear. Initially, I thought of retiring from politics, but due to public support, I decided not to. I also considered forming my own party but ultimately decided to join the BJP because of my increased faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma also confirmed the news on social media, stating, “Former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and a distinguished Adivasi leader of our country, Champai Soren, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah a short while ago. He will officially join the BJP on August 30 in Ranchi.”
Earlier, Soren had hinted at forming a new party, expressing grievances about his treatment during his tenure as Chief Minister. He mentioned instances where he was not allowed to call a meeting of the legislative party and was asked to resign suddenly. Soren stated, “I have been trying to get the rights of the tribals, natives, poor, laborers, students, and people of backward classes of the state. Whether I held any post or not, I was always available to the public, raising the issues of those people who had dreamt of a better future with the state of Jharkhand.”
