Former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed and Three Retired Officers Arrested in Pakistan

Islamabad [Pakistan], August 16: Three retired military officers have been taken into military custody in connection with court-martial proceedings against former ISI chief, Lt. General (retired) Faiz Hameed. The officers are accused of actions harmful to military discipline and colluding with political interests.

The military’s media affairs wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated, “In connection with the FGCM proceedings of Lt Gen (Retd) Faiz Hameed, three retired officers are also in military custody for their actions prejudicial to military discipline.”

Further investigations are ongoing regarding other retired officers and their accomplices for allegedly causing instability in collaboration with political interests.

Sources identified the detained officers as Brigadier Ghaffar, Brigadier Naeem, and a colonel. These officers were reportedly involved in coordinating between a political party and Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed. Both retired brigadiers are from Chakwal and were close to Faiz Hameed.

The ISPR announced the arrest of Faiz Hameed, citing allegations of land grabbing and snatching valuables from the owner of a private housing society. Disciplinary action has been initiated against him under the Pakistan Army Act.

Faiz Hameed -: Faiz Hameed is a retired Lieutenant General who used to be the chief of ISI. He is now facing legal trouble for some actions he took while in service.

brigadiers -: Brigadiers are high-ranking officers in the army, just below the rank of Major General. They have a lot of responsibility and command many soldiers.

colonel -: A colonel is also a high-ranking officer in the army, just below a brigadier. They lead large groups of soldiers and have important duties.

land grabbing -: Land grabbing means taking land illegally or by force. In this case, Faiz Hameed is accused of taking land that didn’t belong to him.

Pakistan Army Act -: The Pakistan Army Act is a set of laws that govern the conduct of the Pakistan Army. It includes rules and punishments for soldiers who break the law.
