Former CM Basavaraj Bommai Praises S. Nijalingappa’s Role in Karnataka’s Unification
Haveri (Karnataka), July 14 – Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai emphasized the significant contributions of the late former Chief Minister S. Nijalingappa in unifying Karnataka. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony organized by the Taluk Banajiga Community Welfare Association in Savanur town, Bommai highlighted the political and educational contributions of the Banajiga community.
The event, held at the Lalateshwar Kalyan Mantap, honored newly elected MPs and awarded meritorious SSLC and PUC students. Bommai praised the community for teaching values of unity and accountability and acknowledged their role in business and agriculture.
Bommai noted that S. Nijalingappa played a crucial role in uniting Old Karnataka, Mumbai Karnataka, and Kalyana Karnataka. He praised Nijalingappa’s leadership in social, economic, and educational spheres and stressed the need for strong organization to regain such leadership.
The former CM also acknowledged the Banajiga community’s role in establishing the KLE society and assured government support for building a community hall. He promised to continue serving the community, regardless of his position, and emphasized the importance of remembering benefactors.
The event was attended by former Chief Minister and MP Jagadish Shettar, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Hubballi Central MLA Mahesh Tenginkai, and several prominent community leaders.
