Former BRS Leader Pocharam Srinivas Reddy Joins Congress in Telangana

On June 21, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, a former leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and his son Bhaskar Reddy joined the Congress party in Telangana. They were welcomed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and TPCC President Revanth Reddy.

This switch led to a protest by 12 BRS leaders in front of Reddy’s residence. The police registered a case against the protesters under Sections 353 and 440 of the Indian Penal Code at Banjara Hills police station. The Assistant Commissioner of Police confirmed that the leaders have been remanded.

The BRS was in power in Telangana until the end of 2023 under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao. The Congress party won the assembly polls last year, leading to the formation of the new government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
