In Ranchi, Jharkhand, former BJP leaders Dr. Lois Marandi, Kunal Sarangi, and Ganesh Mahali have joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and met with Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife, Kalpana Soren. Dr. Lois Marandi, previously a BJP Vice President, expressed her dissatisfaction with the BJP’s decision to field her in Barhait instead of Dumka, where she has served for 24 years. She stated, “I need a platform to serve the people,” and was welcomed by CM Hemant Soren.

Kunal Sarangi, another former BJP leader, criticized the BJP, claiming that promotion within the party required “degrees in corruption.” He expressed happiness in returning to JMM, the party where he began his political journey.

Upcoming Elections in Jharkhand

Jharkhand will hold elections in two phases on November 13 and 20, with results announced on November 23. The INDIA bloc, including JMM and Congress, will contest 70 of the 81 seats. The BJP, in alliance with AJSU, JD-U, and LJP, will contest 68 seats. In the 2019 elections, the UPA, including JMM, won 47 seats, defeating the BJP’s 25 seats.
