Former Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Party Office Faces Demolition Over Illegal Construction

In Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party, YSR Congress, is facing allegations of illegal construction. The ruling party TDP claims that Jagan Mohan Reddy allotted two acres of irrigation land in Tadepalli for his party office without proper permissions.

The TDP alleges that Jagan planned to occupy an additional 15 acres by starting construction on these two acres. However, the Irrigation Department and other authorities did not approve the land transfer. The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) and the Mangalagiri, Tadepalli Municipal Corporation (MTMC) did not hand over the land to the YSR Congress party.

The TDP further stated that the YSR Congress party did not even apply for the necessary clearances before beginning construction. This led to a complaint being lodged by the general secretary of the Guntur district unit of the TDP. As a result, the MTMC officials have started demolishing the illegal constructions.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress party received another notice from the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) regarding the illegal construction of a party office in Vizag. The GVMC objected to the construction on two acres of land in Yendada without permission. The YSR Congress party was directed to stop the work and provide an explanation within seven days.

This situation follows the demolition of an under-construction central office building of the YSR Congress Party by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority. The construction in Tadepalli village was found to be on government land without the necessary consents, violating multiple legal provisions.

Government Order Ms. No. 52, issued on February 16, 2023, mandated the allotment of two acres for the YSR Congress Party office, contingent upon obtaining consent from the Irrigation Department. However, the necessary consent was not secured, leading to the current legal issues.

Complaints were lodged, and show-cause notices were issued, highlighting the illegal nature of the construction. Authorities are expected to take further action to address the violations and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
