Former Ambassador Dilip Sinha Talks About His Book ‘Imperial Games in Tibet’ in Dharamshala
The Tibet Policy Institute of the Department of Information and International Relations, Central Tibetan Administration, hosted a talk by Former Ambassador Dilip Sinha on his book ‘Imperial Games in Tibet’ in Dharamshala. The event was attended by Tibetan intellectuals, activists, members of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile, and officials of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA).
Dilip Sinha expressed his gratitude to the CTA and the Tibetan community for inviting him to speak about his book, which was released a month ago in Delhi. He explained that the book aims to educate Indian people about Tibetan history and the current issues in Tibet’s relations with China.
Sinha discussed India’s policy towards Tibet, stating that India supports the Tibetan community in exile and the Central Tibetan Administration. He emphasized the importance of respecting Tibet’s autonomy, culture, and identity.
Explaining his motivation for writing the book, Sinha shared that his background in political science and history led him to explore the changes in India’s northern border, which has become a security concern. He wanted to understand and share the historical context of these changes.
Tempa Gyaltsen Zamlha, the deputy director of the Tibet Policy Institute, highlighted the significance of the event. He noted that Sinha’s book, written by an Indian diplomat, sheds light on the imperial politics surrounding Tibet’s loss of independence. Zamlha believes the book will enhance understanding of Tibet’s history and support the Tibetan cause.
