Flood Victims in Tripura Find Safety and Support in Relief Camps
In Agartala, Tripura, heavy rainfall has led to severe flooding, prompting the evacuation of residents to government relief camps. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully evacuated 125 people from various flood-affected areas on Friday evening.
Life in the Relief Camps
Aruna Sarkar, a flood victim, shared her positive experience at the relief camp, noting the availability of food, water, and other necessities. She praised the government’s efforts in ensuring the safety and comfort of the residents.
Another resident, Ananta Vaishnav, highlighted the services provided for children, including a tiffin service. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Manik Saha for the arrangements.
Food and Meal Services
Rupa Sarkar Kar, one of the cooks at the facility, confirmed that meals are provided on time. She mentioned cooking dishes like Dal, Potato fry, and pumpkin Varta, ensuring there is abundant food for everyone.
Personal Stories of Loss
Priya Chakraborty recounted how her house was flooded up to neck level, causing significant property damage. She appreciated the government’s support at the camp but hoped for assistance in recovering lost properties.
Apuva Das, another flood victim, shared that he had never experienced such a severe flood in 37 years. His house was swept away, and he is now staying at the relief camp.

Since August 19, a total of 558 relief camps have been established by the district administration to support the flood victims.
