Flash Floods Hit Lahaul Spiti: Roads Blocked and Damage Reported

Two incidents of flash floods occurred in Lahaul Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, causing significant disruptions. The Manali-Leh National Highway 3 was blocked near Zing zingbar due to heavy rain, leading to debris and rocks on the road. The Lahaul Spiti Police advised travelers to avoid the area until the road is cleared. The Border Roads Organisation is working to clear the debris.

Another flash flood at Dandhal Nullah on the SKTT road in Udaipur sub-division also caused a complete blockage. The SHO Udaipur and his team ensured precautionary measures were taken. No loss of life or property was reported, and restoration work began immediately.

Earlier, Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri assessed the damage to the Kurpan Khad Water Supply Scheme in Kullu, revealing a loss of Rs 10 crore. He directed immediate restoration measures and praised the efforts of the department’s officials and employees. Agnihotri also visited the Matiyana region in Shimla district to assess damage to water supply schemes and related infrastructure.
