First Batch of Pilgrims Begin Budha Amarnath Yatra with Tight Security

The first group of pilgrims for the Budha Amarnath Yatra was flagged off by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and ADGP Jammu Anand Jain from Yatra Niwas in Jammu. Nearly 700 pilgrims from Karnataka, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh are participating in the Yatra.

Balwan Singh Thakur, a pilgrim from Madhya Pradesh, expressed his happiness and confidence in the security provided by the Indian army. Deepak Kalmoriya, another pilgrim, praised the security arrangements and support from Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal.

A woman from Ahmedabad, on her first Yatra, mentioned that 150 people from Ahmedabad are participating and there are no security issues. The Budha Amarnath Yatra, which started on August 7, will conclude on August 20. The temple is located in the Poonch district of Jammu.

Due to recent terrorist activities in Poonch and Rajouri, security is heightened. Pilgrims are excited and feel safe with the arrangements made by the security forces. Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar assured that all necessary arrangements have been made for the pilgrims. ADGP Jammu and Kashmir Anand Jain confirmed that tight security, food, and stay arrangements are in place for the Yatra.

Pilgrims -: Pilgrims are people who travel to a holy place for religious reasons. In this case, they are traveling to Budha Amarnath, a sacred site for Hindus.

Budha Amarnath Yatra -: Budha Amarnath Yatra is a religious journey to a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Jammu and Kashmir. ‘Yatra’ means a pilgrimage or journey.

Divisional Commissioner -: A Divisional Commissioner is a senior government official in charge of a division, which is a group of districts. Ramesh Kumar is the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu.

ADGP -: ADGP stands for Additional Director General of Police. Anand Jain is the ADGP of Jammu, responsible for maintaining law and order.

Karnataka, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh -: These are states in India. Karnataka is in the south, Gujarat is in the west, and Madhya Pradesh is in central India.

Terrorist activities -: Terrorist activities refer to violent acts done by groups or individuals to create fear and achieve political goals. Recently, there have been such activities in the region.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad -: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is an organization that promotes Hindu values and culture. They are helping to organize the Yatra.

Bajrang Dal -: Bajrang Dal is a youth group associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. They also support Hindu causes and are helping with the Yatra.

August 20 -: August 20 is the date when the Budha Amarnath Yatra will end this year.

Authorities -: Authorities are people or organizations in power, like the government or police, who are making sure the pilgrims have food, places to stay, and are safe during the Yatra.
