Exploring Buddha Dhamma’s Role in Strengthening Asia

The Ministry of Culture and the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) are set to host the inaugural Asian Buddhist Summit (ABS) in New Delhi on November 5-6. The summit’s theme is “Role of Buddha Dhamma in Strengthening Asia.” The Hon’ble President of India is expected to attend as the Chief Guest.

The summit aims to unite Sangha leaders, scholars, and practitioners from various Buddhist traditions across Asia. It will foster dialogue, promote understanding, and address contemporary challenges faced by the Buddhist community. Buddhism plays a significant role in the spiritual and cultural history of India and Asia, with Buddha Dhamma being a key component of India’s culture and foreign policy.

The summit aligns with India’s Act East Policy, focusing on collective, inclusive, and spiritual development in Asia. Key themes include Buddhist Art, Architecture and Heritage, Buddha Carika, the role of Holy Buddhist Relics, the significance of Buddha Dhamma in scientific research, and the role of Buddhist literature in the 21st century.

A special exhibition titled “India as the Dhamma Setu (Bridge)” will be part of the event, showcasing India’s connection to Asia through Dhamma. The summit aims to promote a compassionate, sustainable, and peaceful world, ensuring the welfare of humanity.
