Firefighters Battle Massive Warehouse Fire in Delhi’s Alipur

In New Delhi, the firefighting efforts to control a large fire in the Alipur area continued for a second day. The fire began on Saturday evening at a warehouse near Shivam Dharam Kanta. Chief Fire Officer Rajeev Shukla explained that the fire spread rapidly due to its intensity, causing a wall to collapse and the flames to travel further.

Chief Fire Officer Virender Singh reported that 35 fire tenders and around 200 personnel, including officers, were involved in the operation. The fire affected three buildings, all of which have collapsed. Singh noted that the godowns lacked proper firefighting measures, and water had to be brought from 500 meters away as vehicles couldn’t access the narrow streets. The affected area spans over 8000 square yards.
