Firefight in Kulgam: Indian Army and Police vs. Terrorists
A firefight broke out between security personnel and terrorists in the Adigam Devsar area of Kulgam district, Jammu and Kashmir. The Kashmir Zone police reported the incident on Saturday.
Based on specific intelligence, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in the area. Earlier, on September 22, an encounter occurred between security forces and terrorists in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district, ahead of the third phase of legislative assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The elections are being held in three phases. The first phase took place on September 18, the second on September 25, and the third is scheduled for October 1. The counting of votes will happen on October 8. These are the first assembly elections in the Union Territory since the abrogation of Article 370, after a gap of ten years.
