A fire broke out in a building in Male City, Maldives, on September 9. The Indian High Commission in the Maldives expressed sadness over the incident but confirmed that there were no serious injuries or loss of life. They are in touch with affected Indian nationals to provide support.

The fire started in the kitchen of Gaamagu Cafe, located on Sosun Magu. The cafe, made of corrugated steel sheets, was on the first floor of a three-story building. The adjacent building was also affected, and many nearby houses were vacated.

Two foreigners, a man and a woman, were taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) received reports of the fire at 2:40 pm local time and managed to bring it under control.

The Indian High Commission thanked Maldivian authorities for their prompt rescue and relief efforts.
