On October 4, 2024, a joint operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police was initiated in Gugaldhar, Kupwara, following intelligence about a possible infiltration attempt. The vigilant troops noticed suspicious activity, which led to an exchange of fire with terrorists. The operation is still ongoing, as reported by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army.

Additionally, on the same day, security forces engaged in a firefight with terrorists in the Kishtwar district. Acting on specific intelligence, a joint search operation was conducted in Chatroo village, Kishtwar.

Earlier, on September 29, a similar encounter occurred in the Rajouri district. Security forces launched a joint search operation at Manail Gali under Thanamandi Police Station, based on intelligence about terrorist presence, as stated by the ADGP of Jammu Zone.
