Female Naxal Sajanti Arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat District

A 32-year-old female Naxal named Sajanti, who had a reward of Rs 14 Lakh on her head, was arrested in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. The arrest was made by the Hawk force in the forest of Parsatola under the jurisdiction of Baihar police station on the night of September 5.

Sajanti, a resident of Gadchiroli in Maharashtra, was found with a pistol, a bullet magazine, and an axe. Her husband, Ganesh, was killed in an encounter in November 2022.

Balaghat Superintendent of Police, Nagendra Singh, stated, “We received information about Naxal movement in the forest of Parsatola. The Hawk force team was mobilized and managed to arrest Sajanti, although another Naxal escaped. The team was fired upon by other Naxal members but they managed to flee into the dense forest.”

The police continue their anti-Naxal campaign and are encouraging Naxals to surrender under Madhya Pradesh’s beneficial surrender policy.

Naxal -: Naxals are people who are part of a group that fights against the government, often using violence. They believe in a different way of running the country, called communism.

Hawk force -: The Hawk force is a special group of police officers in Madhya Pradesh. They are trained to handle tough situations, like fighting against Naxals.

Reward of Rs 14 Lakh -: A reward of Rs 14 Lakh means that the government promised to give 14 lakh rupees (1.4 million rupees) to anyone who helped catch Sajanti.

Gadchiroli -: Gadchiroli is a district in the state of Maharashtra, which is in the western part of India. It is known for having many Naxal activities.

Encounter -: An encounter is a fight between the police and criminals or Naxals. In this case, Sajanti’s husband, Ganesh, was killed in such a fight.

Surrender policy -: A surrender policy is a plan by the government to encourage Naxals to give up fighting. If they surrender, they get help to start a new life, like money and job training.
