Fawad Chaudhry Criticizes PTI Leadership, Doubts Imran Khan’s Release

Islamabad, Pakistan – Fawad Chaudhry, Pakistan’s former information minister, has expressed doubts about the release of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), from Adiala Jail. Chaudhry believes that as long as the current PTI leadership remains in charge, Imran Khan will not be freed.

Chaudhry, who left PTI after the state’s crackdown following the May 9 riots, has been vocal about his dissatisfaction with the current party leadership. He criticized them for failing to provide a political strategy despite having massive public support.

Speaking to journalists at his residence in Ladhar, Chaudhry suggested that PTI should focus on building an opposition alliance with other political groups like Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), and Jamaat-i-Islami.

In a private conversation, Chaudhry claimed that no one in the current leadership had the political stature or ability to mobilize the masses like Imran Khan. He also accused some party members of not wanting Imran Khan to be released, fearing it would end their political careers.

In a video message, Chaudhry mentioned that he was advised not to criticize the leadership as it would weaken the party. However, he insisted that there was not even a 1% chance of Imran Khan’s release under the current leadership. He also highlighted that many PTI leaders were still in prison or facing charges.

Chaudhry accused the PTI’s secretary information of charging money for his services and running their own economies. He called for veteran members to be included in decision-making to create a political plan. He also stressed the need for the current leadership to allow others to approach Imran Khan in jail.

Responding to accusations that he was desperate to return, Chaudhry admitted his desperation, stating that he could see the party sinking without a political strategy.
