In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has urged leaders of the INDIA bloc to actively engage with the public in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. He emphasized the importance of not taking the elections lightly, especially in light of past political dynamics in Jammu.

Election Details

The Election Commission has announced that Jharkhand will hold assembly polls in two phases on November 13 and 20, while Maharashtra will have a single-phase election on November 20. Votes will be counted on November 23.

Voter Demographics

Jharkhand has 2.60 crore eligible voters, including 1.31 crore males and 1.29 crore females, with 11.84 lakh first-time voters and 66.84 lakh young voters. The state will conduct elections in 81 constituencies.

Maharashtra Election Process

In Maharashtra, the election process begins with the Gazette notification on October 22. The last date for filing nominations is October 29, with scrutiny on October 30 and withdrawal of candidatures by November 4.

Key Political Contenders

The Maharashtra elections will see competition between the ruling Mahayuti Alliance, including BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress.
