Farooq Abdullah Accuses BJP of Dividing Muslims Ahead of Jammu and Kashmir Elections
In Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to divide Muslims. He believes that people will teach the BJP a lesson in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Farooq Abdullah also mentioned that Lok Sabha MP Er Rashid, who was recently released from Tihar Jail on interim bail, will campaign for the elections. Rashid’s bail was granted by Delhi’s special NIA court to allow him to participate in the campaign. He must surrender again on October 3.
Farooq Abdullah criticized the BJP, saying, “They want to divide Muslims here and he is with them…I want to remind them of Indian Airlines flight 814, the terrorism that is going on today is being run by those who were released at that time. I told them not to do this, but they did not listen and today we are victims of it.”
He added, “BJP and RSS want to weaken India. People here will teach them a lesson…”
National Conference Vice-President Omar Abdullah also commented on the situation, stating, “The bail has been given to him only for 20 days for the elections. The people were told to cast votes for Rashid to let him out of jail. He has only been given bail so that the votes can be achieved. In one way, the Baramulla people have used their votes.”
Omar Abdullah further criticized the BJP, saying, “I do not understand how the BJP always talks in different ways. When Arvind Kejriwal was given bail, that time as well, they created a ruckus. There is something wrong here. If people use their votes in a sentiment and emotional manner, then I am sure the BJP will win with their tricks. If they use their brain, I will win.”
The Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1. The counting of votes will take place on October 8. There are a total of 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, with 7 seats reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and 9 seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs).
