Farmers in Gujarat Embrace Natural Farming for Better Profits and Healthier Soil

Farmers in Gujarat are increasingly adopting natural farming, which avoids artificial fertilizers and pesticides, due to its profitability and environmental benefits. Over 2,75,000 hectares are now under natural farming, involving around nine lakh farmers. Agricultural scientists and the state government are promoting this method through education and support.

Benefits of Natural Farming

Natural farming helps in reducing costs by using locally sourced inputs and improves soil health. Farmers like Bhagwan Bhai Kachot from Lodhva village and Jitu Bhai Ganda Bhai Solanki from Deoli village have experienced better soil fertility and reduced expenses. They also benefit from selling their produce online.

Support from Agricultural Scientists

Agricultural scientists like Jitendra Singh are educating farmers about new technologies and tools. They hold meetings, exhibitions, and camps to explain the economic and health benefits of natural farming.

Growing Demand for Organic Products

There is a growing demand for natural organic food products due to their health benefits. Amiben Upadhyay, CEO of a store in Kodinar Sutrapada, mentioned that many farmers are now selling their produce online, both domestically and internationally, with government support.
