Family of Former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao Pays Tribute on His 103rd Birth Anniversary
The family members of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao paid tribute to him on his 103rd birth anniversary at PV Gyan Bhoomi in Hyderabad. Rao, who was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna by President Droupadi Murmu, was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his extensive service to India.
Born on June 28, 1921, in Karimnagar, Telangana, Rao was an agriculturist and advocate before joining politics. He held several important positions, including Minister of Law and Information, Health and Medicine, and Education in the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He also served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted Rao’s significant contributions to India’s economic development and foreign policy. Rao’s tenure as Prime Minister was marked by measures that opened India to global markets, fostering economic growth. His work in the language and education sectors also enriched India’s cultural and intellectual heritage.
Since 2014, the Modi government has announced Bharat Ratna awards for several notable figures, including Lal Krishna Advani, Karpoori Thakur, Madan Mohan Malviya, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pranab Mukherjee, Bhupen Hazarika, and Nanaji Deshmukh.
