Fake Claim Using Advocate Saroj Bala’s Identity in New Delhi

An imposter has taken advantage of the medical insurance benefit meant for lawyers under the Chief Minister Advocate Welfare Scheme. This scheme provides Rs. 5 lakh in mediclaim insurance for advocates admitted to any hospital.

Discovery of the Fraud

Advocate Saroj Bala, who has a chamber in Dwarka District Court, was shocked to receive a communication about a Rs. 63,000 mediclaim for her treatment from the Insurance TPA. She had never been admitted to any hospital.

Missing Enrollment and Complaint

Upon investigation, Saroj Bala found her Bar Council of Delhi enrollment was missing. She had already filed a complaint with the Dwarka police station about the theft of her enrollment card and informed the insurance authorities about the fake claim.

Details of the Fraud

According to the complaint, she received an email from Health India TPA Services stating that on June 11, someone was admitted to RG Stone and Laproscopy Hospital using her identity and health policy, claiming Rs. 63,000. The fraudster used her renewed BCD card, which she received in July.

Actions Taken

Saroj Bala has filed complaints with both the Dwarka police station and the Bar Council of Delhi. This incident has not only caused her financial loss but also raised concerns about the misuse of her personal information.
