External Affairs Minister Jaishankar Inaugurates Mediclinic in Mauritius

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar inaugurated a new Mediclinic project at Grand Bois in Mauritius on Wednesday. The project, funded by an Indian grant, is described as the ‘newest expression of our friendship’ and will provide secondary healthcare to 16,000 people in the area.

Speaking at the event, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of health and the duty of governments to deliver healthcare. He expressed pride in India’s partnership with Mauritius, stating that it contributes to the well-being, connectivity, and prosperity of the nation.

Jaishankar commended Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jagnauth for the collaboration, which he believes will improve the lives of ordinary citizens. He also highlighted other projects India has undertaken in Mauritius as expressions of the strong relationship between the two countries.

Earlier in the day, Jaishankar met with former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Paul Berenger, to discuss contemporary global issues. He thanked Mauritius Foreign Minister Maneesh Gobin for the warm welcome and looked forward to further strengthening the special relationship between India and Mauritius.
