Incident Overview

Around 10 people were injured and one person is missing following a significant explosion at the Ordnance Factory Khamaria in Jabalpur district. The blast occurred on Tuesday morning while an old missile was being processed.

Details of the Incident

The explosion happened at approximately 10:45 AM during the boiling out of a Pechora missile. Four workers were in the building at the time; three were injured and taken to Mahakaushal Hospital, with one in critical condition. Efforts are ongoing to locate the missing fourth person.

Additional Injuries

Seven more individuals from a nearby building were also injured and have been admitted to the hospital for first aid.

Investigation and Response

M N Haldar, Chief General Manager of the factory, stated that an inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the explosion. The factory routinely conducts such operations, and the exact cause will be identified after the investigation. Assistance is being provided for the treatment of the injured employees.

Anand Sharma, another official, confirmed that the missile was 30-40 years old and that the boiling out process is a regular procedure. An inquiry committee has been set up, and the investigation is being conducted under the guidelines of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
