MAHA-EV Mission: A Step Towards Sustainable Mobility in India

In New Delhi, experts from various fields gathered for a significant meeting under the Mission for Advancement in High-impact Areas (MAHA) Electric Vehicle (EV) Mission. This event, held at Vigyan Bhawan, was organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology to discuss collaborative efforts to advance India’s e-mobility initiatives.

Professor Ajay K Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, emphasized the mission’s role in supporting India’s shift to sustainable mobility. The mission aims to foster innovation and collaboration among stakeholders to build expertise in EV technology.

Professor Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology and CEO of ANRF, highlighted the ambitious goals of the MAHA-EV Mission. The mission focuses on advancements in EV battery technology, power electronics, and charging infrastructure.

Interactive Platform for Collaboration

The meeting served as an interactive platform with over 300 participants from academia, government, and industry. They engaged with senior government officials to prepare proposals for the MAHA-EV Mission.

Unveiling of R&D Roadmaps

Professor Abhay Karandikar unveiled three thematic R&D Roadmaps on Tropical EV Battery, Power Electronics, Machines and Drives, and EV Charging Infrastructure. These roadmaps were prepared by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and are available on the DST website.

The MAHA-EV initiative aims to elevate India’s position in the global EV sector and contribute to the development of sustainable electric mobility technologies.
