Exercise Sanyukt Vimochan 2024: A Global Humanitarian Effort
The Indian Army is set to host Exercise Sanyukt Vimochan 2024 on November 18 and 19 in Ahmedabad and Porbandar, Gujarat. This annual Humanitarian and Disaster Relief Exercise (HADR) will see participation from nine friendly foreign countries, including Sri Lanka, Vietnam, UAE, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Maldives, and Malaysia.
International Collaboration
The exercise aims to unite various armed forces, the Indian Coast Guard, and both Central and state agencies to tackle natural disasters. It will assess the efficiency of response measures and optimize existing disaster management structures. The event will also provide a platform for participants to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and gain expertise in disaster management.
Showcasing India’s Capabilities
Approximately 100 representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council and Indian Ocean Region will attend as observers. The exercise will feature an industrial equipment display, showcasing India’s indigenously built Defense and HADR equipment, highlighting potential export opportunities.
Promoting Disaster Resilience
The event aligns with India’s efforts to promote disaster resilience globally, supported by initiatives like the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI). Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, CDRI aims to enhance the resilience of infrastructure systems to climate and disaster risks, supporting sustainable development goals.
