Preparations and Achievements
The Organizing Committee has been working hard to ensure a successful summit. Since the beginning of the year, Russia has hosted around 140 high-level events in 13 cities. These events include the BRICS Parliamentary Forum, BRICS Inter-Party Forum, and meetings of BRICS Education Ministers, Sports Ministers, and more.
New Initiatives
This year saw the introduction of new formats like the first BRICS Transport Ministers’ meeting, BRICS Heads of Geological Services gathering, and the BRICS Nuclear Medicine Forum.
New Members
On January 1, Russia took over the BRICS chairmanship. The group now includes 10 countries, with Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates joining as new full members. This expansion shows the growing importance of BRICS in global affairs.

History of BRICS
The leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, and China first met in St Petersburg, Russia, in July 2006. The first BRIC summit was held in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on June 16, 2009. South Africa joined the group in 2010, making it BRICS. The third BRICS Summit took place in Sanya, China, on April 14, 2011.
