Etawah District Magistrate Avneesh Rai Takes Action Over Improper Disposal of Cow Carcasses

Etawah district administration has suspended the Mahewa block panchayat secretary and issued a notice to the village pradhan after an inspection of a cowshed revealed improper disposal of cow carcasses. The inspection was conducted following complaints received on social media and from residents.

Inspection Findings

Etawah District Magistrate Avneesh Rai stated that the inspection found that cow carcasses were not disposed of properly, causing remains to be washed away by the rain and creating issues for locals. A team of officials visited the site and found negligence in disposal and care of the carcasses.

Actions Taken

As a result, the panchayat secretary has been suspended, and a show cause notice has been issued to the village pradhan. The veterinary officer has also been directed to ensure weekly visits and inspections. All animals have since been relocated to other cowsheds, and authorities have warned that any further negligence would result in strict action.

Details of the Investigation

During the investigation, it was noted that 126 cows were registered, with 120 present at the site. However, the carcasses of four cows had not been disposed of properly. Further details are awaited.
