Manchester United head coach Erik Ten Hag is determined to keep Scott McTominay amid rumors of his departure during the summer transfer window. The 27-year-old Scottish midfielder was close to leaving last year but stayed after a failed bid from West Ham United.
This summer, McTominay has been linked with Galatasaray, Tottenham Hotspur, and Fulham. Manchester United rejected Fulham’s £17m bid. Ten Hag acknowledged McTominay’s impressive performance, noting his ten goals last season and seven goals in Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Ten Hag said, “We have very good players, so there will always be an interest from other clubs. When you score ten goals in a season and also perform very good for Scotland, then there will be an interest. But we want to keep him because he is a very important player for our squad.”
Manchester United has started their pre-season campaign, losing 1-0 to Rosenborg but winning 2-0 against Rangers FC. Their next game is against Arsenal at SoFi Stadium, California.
