In Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, who is the President of the Awami Ittehad Party and a Member of Parliament, has called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to share details of his recent meetings in New Delhi. These meetings were with key figures such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

During a press conference, Engineer Rashid emphasized the public’s right to be informed about the discussions that took place. He specifically questioned whether the restoration of Article 370 and the release of political prisoners were topics of conversation. Rashid stated, “Talks should not happen behind closed doors; the public has a right to know what was discussed about Article 370 and statehood and Prime Minister’s response.”

Omar Abdullah recently became the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the JKNC-Congress alliance won the majority in the assembly elections. The National Conference secured 42 seats, Congress 6, BJP 29, and other parties and independents shared the remaining seats. This election was significant as it was the first since the abrogation of Article 370.
