Engineer Rashid Supports New Government in Jammu and Kashmir

In Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, expressed his willingness to support the new government formed by the NC-Congress alliance. Rashid, a Baramulla MP and leader of the Awami Ittehad Party, stated that he will back any positive actions taken by the new administration but remains skeptical of the National Conference leader’s intentions. He hopes that Omar Abdullah, the new Chief Minister, will fulfill his promises and urged Prime Minister Modi to support the new government.

Omar Abdullah to Lead as Chief Minister

Omar Abdullah, leader of the National Conference, has been elected as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to present letters of support from various parties, including Congress, CPM, AAP, and independents. Abdullah requested a date for the swearing-in ceremony, which is expected to occur on October 15 or 16, after the necessary paperwork is completed.

NC-Congress Alliance Wins Majority

The NC-Congress alliance secured a majority in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, winning 48 out of 90 seats. The National Conference played a significant role in the alliance’s victory, while Congress managed to win six seats. The elections were conducted in three phases.
