Engineer Rashid Released on Bail, Focuses on Kashmir Issue and Upcoming Elections
Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid, recently released on interim bail, met with the people of Baramulla to discuss the Kashmir issue and upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Rashid, who was granted bail to campaign, emphasized the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue over the elections. Rashid has a history of arrests related to anti-national activities but has been cleared of charges in the past. In 2005, he was arrested for allegedly supporting militants but was later released on humanitarian grounds. In August 2019, he was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) but still managed to win the 2024 parliamentary elections from jail, defeating former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
