Emirates Expands Fleet with New Boeing 777 Freighters
Dubai, UAE – Emirates has announced a firm order for five additional Boeing 777 freighters, set for delivery between 2025 and 2026. This order increases Emirates’ pending deliveries to 14 Boeing 777Fs by the end of 2026. The airline has also extended a lease for four Boeing 777Fs from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, aiming to operate 21 freighters by December 2026.
Emirates is also converting 10 passenger Boeing 777-300ERs into freighters to further expand its fleet. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, emphasized the investment in new freighters to meet growing demand and enhance global connectivity.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, praised Emirates for setting industry standards and trusting Boeing’s widebody aircraft for their global operations. Emirates will continue using its wide-body passenger fleet, including 777s, 777-Fs, 747Fs, A350s, and A380s, to ensure efficient cargo movement worldwide.
The Dubai government plans to expand Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) to become the world’s largest cargo hub, capable of processing 12 million tonnes annually. Emirates will decide on its future freighter fleet for 2028/29, considering the Boeing 777-8F and Airbus A350-1000F.
