On Tuesday, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and tech billionaire, announced that his platform X, previously known as Twitter, reached a new record in usage. Musk shared that X experienced a total of 417 billion user-seconds globally in just one day.
Record-Breaking Numbers

Changes Under Musk’s Leadership
Elon Musk acquired Twitter in October 2022 for USD 44 billion. Since then, he has made several significant changes, including firing top executives, laying off half of the staff, and forming a content moderation council. He also introduced paid verifications and rebranded the platform as X in July 2023.
Boosting Engagement
To increase engagement, Musk announced in March 2024 that X accounts with over 2,500 verified subscriber followers would get free access to Premium features, while those with over 5,000 followers would enjoy Premium+ features at no cost.
