Elon Musk’s X Breaks Record During Biden-Trump Debate

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, announced that his social media platform, X, saw record usage during the recent televised debate between US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. The platform, formerly known as Twitter, reached 76 billion user-seconds in the United States, surpassing the previous record by 5%.

Musk shared on his X account, ‘X US usage reaches all-time high! 76B total user-seconds in the US, beating the previous record by 5%.’ The debate spiked minute-by-minute conversations by 19 times from the start of the broadcast to its peak at 90 minutes in. XData reported over 2 billion impressions, 242 million video views, and 2 million posts during the debate.

This milestone reflects X’s growing influence and increasing user engagement. The announcement comes as social media platforms compete for user attention and strive to offer more engaging content. To boost engagement, Musk had announced in March that X accounts with over 2,500 verified followers would get free access to Premium features, while those with over 5,000 followers would enjoy Premium+ features at no cost.

Meanwhile, President Biden, during his campaign stop in North Carolina, said, ‘I know what millions of Americans know…When you get knocked down, you get back up.’ He acknowledged his physical and verbal challenges but emphasized his commitment to truth. Former President Trump, at a rally in Virginia, claimed a ‘big victory’ against Biden, whom he accused of trying to destroy the country.
