Electricity Reaches Tribal Homes in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur After 20 Years

People from the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in Bheski village, Balrampur, Chhattisgarh, have finally received electricity after 20 years. This significant development is part of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).

Relief for Villagers

The Sarpanch of Bheski village, Bhajan Ram, shared his relief, stating, “There was no electricity for the past twenty years. Now electricity has been provided and we are greatly relieved from it. The residents lived in darkness for the past 15-20 years.”

Campaign Impact

Balrampur District Collector Remigius Ekka explained, “This campaign is being carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN). There are settlements of Pahadi Korwa at 235 different places in the district, in which 5070 people are residing, out of which electricity was not available in 1011 houses and now electricity connection has been given in these houses.”

Prime Minister’s Efforts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the efforts to empower poor, Dalit, deprived, and tribal families since 2014. He mentioned that the PM Janman Yojana aims to reach extremely backward tribes, providing them with houses, roads, electricity, water, and education. Additionally, the first instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) was initiated to ensure pucca houses for thousands of beneficiaries, along with other facilities like toilets, drinking water, electricity, and gas connections.
