Election Commission Rejects Congress Allegations of Result Slowdown in Haryana

The Election Commission of India has dismissed allegations made by the Congress party regarding a slowdown in updating the results of the Haryana assembly polls. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh had raised concerns about the delay, suggesting it was a tactic to pressure the local administration. The BJP is set to form its third consecutive government in Haryana, winning 48 out of 90 seats, while Congress is expected to secure 37 seats.

The Election Commission responded to Ramesh’s memorandum, stating that the counting process was conducted transparently in the presence of candidates and observers. The Commission emphasized that there was no evidence to support the claims of a slowdown and that results were being updated every five minutes.

Jairam Ramesh criticized the Election Commission’s response, calling it hostile and inappropriate. He insisted that the Congress party’s concerns were based on credible information and that the party would continue to challenge the results. Congress leaders, including Pawan Khera, expressed disbelief at the unexpected outcome and announced plans to present their complaints to the Election Commission.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference-Congress alliance is expected to form a majority government, according to Ramesh.
