Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena Announces Candidates for Maharashtra Elections
The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena has unveiled a new list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Among the notable candidates is Milind Deora, who will be contesting against Aaditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) in Worli. Sanjay Nirupam is set to run from the Dindoshi constituency, while Nilesh Rane, son of BJP MP Narayan Rane, will contest from Kudal.
Milind Deora, a current Rajya Sabha member and three-time MP from South Mumbai, was previously tasked with handling Worli during the Lok Sabha polls. In a recent development, Sanjana Jadhav, daughter of BJP leader Raosaheb Patil Danve, joined the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, along with former BJP MP Rajendra Gavit and ex-BJP Corporator Murji Patel.
Both the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are ramping up their efforts for the elections, which will cover 288 Assembly seats. The Mahayuti alliance includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. The elections are scheduled for November 20, with results to be announced on November 23.
In the previous 2019 elections, the BJP secured 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP won 122 seats, Shiv Sena 63, and Congress 42.
