Details of the Incident

According to Deputy SP, Gandhinagar DT Gohil, nine youths from the village were bathing in the river when the incident happened. An eyewitness confirmed that eight people drowned, and their bodies have been recovered.

Rescue Efforts

NDRF Team Commander Lakhan Raghuvanshi stated that the Gandhinagar NDRF team is actively engaged in the rescue operation. Both NDRF and SDRF teams are involved, and divers are working tirelessly to ensure no one else is missing.

Prime Minister’s Condolences

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the incident. In a post on X, he wrote, ‘Deeply saddened by the news of the loss of life in the drowning incident in Dehgam taluk of Gujarat. My condolences to all the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy.’
