Egypt, Qatar, and USA to Meet in Cairo for Gaza Ceasefire Talks

Egypt, Qatar, and the United States announced that senior officials from their countries will meet in Cairo next week to discuss a ceasefire in Gaza. This follows intensive negotiations held over the past 48 hours in Doha.

The United States, with support from Qatar and Egypt, presented a proposal on Friday to bridge gaps and align with the principles set out by President Biden on May 31, 2024, and UN Security Council Resolution 2735. This proposal builds on previous agreements and aims for swift implementation.

Technical teams will work on the details, including humanitarian aspects and issues related to captives and detainees. The joint statement emphasized the importance of releasing captives, initiating a ceasefire, and providing relief to the people of Gaza to de-escalate regional tensions.
