ED Cracks Down on Illegal Ticket Sales for Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh Concerts

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has launched a major operation across Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru to tackle the illegal sale of tickets for Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh’s concerts. These concerts, Diljit Dosanjh’s “Dilluminati” and Coldplay’s “Music of the Spheres World Tour,” were highly anticipated, with tickets selling out quickly on platforms like Bookmyshow and Zomato Live.

However, the high demand led to black-marketing, with fans being sold fake tickets or charged exorbitant prices. Multiple FIRs have been filed, including one by Bookmyshow, against suspects exploiting concertgoers by selling counterfeit tickets and inflating prices.

The ED’s investigation, under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, involved searches at over 13 locations in five states. During these searches, incriminating materials such as mobile phones, laptops, and sim cards were seized. The operation aims to dismantle the financial networks behind these scams and trace the proceeds of crime.

Investigations have uncovered individuals using social media platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram to sell fake tickets. The ED’s actions are a significant step in curbing illegal ticket sales and protecting concertgoers.
