The National Centre of Seismology (NCS) reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale. It occurred at 10:58 am (IST) and had a depth of 81 kilometers. The epicenter was located at Latitude 4.73 S and Longitude 153.13 E.

Earlier, on November 6, another earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck the same region. This earthquake happened at 8:06 PM (IST) and had a depth of 10 kilometers. Its epicenter was recorded at Latitude 4.84 S and Longitude 153.21 E.
