EAM S Jaishankar Visits Saudi Arabia for India-GCC Meeting, Heads to Germany and Switzerland Next

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the First India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. He was welcomed by Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs, Abdulmajeed Al Smari. Jaishankar is on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia from September 8-9.

Upon arrival, Jaishankar posted on X, expressing gratitude for the warm reception. During his visit, he will hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from GCC member countries. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlighted the deep and multifaceted relationship between India and the GCC, including political, trade, investment, energy cooperation, and cultural ties. The GCC region is a major trading partner for India and home to around 8.9 million Indian expatriates.

After Saudi Arabia, Jaishankar will travel to Germany for a two-day visit from September 10-11, marking his first bilateral visit to Berlin. He will meet the German Federal Foreign Minister and other government leaders to review bilateral relations. Germany is a key trading partner and investor in India.

Following Germany, Jaishankar will visit Geneva, Switzerland, from September 12-13. Geneva hosts many United Nations bodies and international organizations. During his visit, he will meet with heads and representatives of these organizations and Switzerland’s counterpart to enhance bilateral relations.
