EAM S Jaishankar Meets Russian and Brazilian Foreign Ministers in Riyadh

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira during the India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Riyadh.

Jaishankar shared on social media that he had a useful conversation with Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the GCC meeting.

Jaishankar also met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira to discuss the G20 agenda, BRICS cooperation, and the Ukraine conflict.

Arrival in Riyadh

Jaishankar arrived in Riyadh on September 8 for the First India-GCC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. He was welcomed by Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister for Protocol Affairs, Abdulmajeed Al Smari.

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the deep and multifaceted relationship between India and the GCC, covering political, trade, investment, energy cooperation, and cultural ties. The GCC region is a major trading partner for India and home to around 8.9 million Indian expatriates.

Upcoming Visit to Germany

After his visit to Riyadh, Jaishankar will travel to Germany for his first bilateral visit to Berlin from September 10-11.

Ukraine conflict -: The Ukraine conflict refers to the ongoing tensions and fighting between Ukraine and Russia. It started in 2014 and is still a big issue in the world.

bilateral visit -: A bilateral visit is when a representative from one country visits another country to discuss and improve relations between the two countries.
