EAM S Jaishankar Meets Former Mauritius PM Paul Berenger and Visits Civil Service College Project
Port Louis, Mauritius, July 17: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Paul Berenger, to discuss contemporary global issues. Jaishankar expressed his appreciation for Berenger’s support for India-Mauritius relations.
In a post on X, Jaishankar said, “Good to meet former Prime Minister Paul Berenger. A lively conversation on contemporary global issues. Value his support for India-Mauritius relations.”
During his official visit to Mauritius, Jaishankar visited the Civil Service College project site in Reduit. He praised the project, stating that “‘Delivered by India’ is emerging as a symbol of trust.” He also commended the commitment and professionalism of those involved in the project.
Jaishankar arrived in Mauritius for a two-day official visit and thanked Mauritius Foreign Minister Maneesh Gobin for the warm welcome. He looked forward to productive engagements to strengthen the special relationship between the two nations.
In his welcome message, Foreign Minister Maneesh Gobin expressed his delight at Jaishankar’s visit, highlighting the strong and enduring partnership between India and Mauritius. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties and explore new avenues of cooperation.
This visit follows a month after Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth attended the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his new cabinet.
