India’s Support for Palestine on Independence Day

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar extended warm wishes to the State of Palestine on their Declaration of Independence Day. He emphasized India’s commitment to a strong partnership and friendship with Palestine.

In a recent post, Jaishankar highlighted India’s support by supplying 30 tons of essential medical supplies to Palestine in October. This includes life-saving and anti-cancer drugs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas in September during the Summit of the Future in New York. Modi expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the security situation in the region. He reaffirmed India’s support for Palestine, advocating for a ceasefire, release of hostages, and a return to dialogue and diplomacy.

Modi reiterated India’s stance on the Israel-Palestine issue, supporting a two-state solution for lasting peace. He also conveyed India’s backing for Palestine’s UN membership.

The discussions between Modi and Abbas covered various aspects of India-Palestine relations, including support in education, health, and capacity building. Both leaders committed to strengthening bilateral ties.
