The tradition of celebrating Durga Puja in Tripura dates back 290 years. It also celebrates Durga as the nurturing force behind life and creation. The festival coincides with Navaratri and Dussehra, and includes reverence for other deities like Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesha, and Kartikeya.
Celebrations in Agartala
Agartala, the capital city, especially within the Agartala Municipal Corporation area and West Tripura district, will be the center of these high-budget celebrations. Visitors from across the state and country flock to Agartala to enjoy the festive spirit.
Security Measures
West Tripura DM and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar announced that nearly 900 pandals will be set up in West Tripura. To ensure safety, 1500 additional police personnel will monitor security 24/7. CCTV cameras and drones have been installed, and the NDRF team is on standby. Additionally, 500 traffic police personnel will manage traffic, with checkpoints set up in 11 locations.
