Dubai Police and Utrecht Mayor Open First Smart Police Station in the Netherlands

Dubai [UAE], August 30: Sharon Dijksma, Mayor of Utrecht, and Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, have inaugurated the first Smart Police Station in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, named ‘SPS Utrecht.’ This station offers security services without human intervention and operates 24/7.

The inauguration was attended by Rob van Bree, Chief of Investigations and Special Operations of the Dutch National Police, Jolanda Aalbers, Operations Director for the Eastern Netherlands, and Ali Saeed Al Shehhi, Charge d’Affaires ad interim in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

This initiative is part of the strategic partnerships between the UAE and the Netherlands, supporting the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

The ‘SPS Utrecht’ is the second global adoption of Dubai Police’s Smart Police Station concept, following the first in Serbia in 2023. The station is located in Utrecht Central Station, serving many residents, travelers, and commuters.

Mayor Sharon Dijksma expressed pride in bringing this innovative concept to Utrecht, making it easier to report crimes. Jolanda Aalbers highlighted the fruitful cooperation with Dubai Police, looking forward to continued collaboration.

Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri emphasized that the inauguration aligns with the UAE’s strategic directives to strengthen international relations. He noted that ‘SPS Utrecht’ underscores the pioneering success of the UAE and Dubai Police.

The station offers various services, including video call communication with officers, inquiry services, and criminal reporting services, all available 24/7.

Colonel Tareq Hilal of Dubai Police, Erwin Janssen, CEO of SD Worx, and Van Winsen Marcel, Airport Manager AMS at Etihad, also attended the inauguration.
