The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) organized the second edition of the Human Resources Forum titled ‘Workforce Upskilling & Reskilling’. The event, held on Microsoft Teams, aimed to enhance the skills of the workforce, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).

The forum was attended by Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director-General of DGHR, along with department directors, section heads, and human resources specialists from the Dubai Government.

Focus on AI and Technological Advancements

Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi emphasized the importance of upskilling and reskilling the workforce to keep pace with rapid technological advancements. He stated, “The second edition of Human Resources Forum showcases DGHR’s commitment to enhancing the skills and capabilities of the workforce, in light of the rapid technological developments, particularly in AI.”

Presentations and Discussions

Saeed Aldhaheri, Director of the Centre for Futures Studies at the University of Dubai, presented on ‘Upskilling and Reskilling the Skills of the Workforce in the Era of Artificial Intelligence’. He highlighted global trends impacting workforce skills, including AI and automation.

Mariam Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of Shared Services at ADNOC Sour Gas, gave a presentation on ‘ADNOC Academy: The Stages of Developing and Building Workforce Skills’, showcasing ADNOC’s strategies for lifelong learning and skill development.

Future Workforce Skills

The forum also discussed the ‘Skills Needed in the Future’, covering basic skills, technical and specialized skills, AI skills, digital skills, lifelong learning, and learning flexibility. Statistics from the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023 were highlighted, indicating that 42% of job tasks would be automated by 2027, and 44% of workforce skills would transform in the next five years.
